A common problem we see regularly on the 1.9tdiPD AVB,AWX and ARL engine fitted to Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda vehicles from 1998-2005 is that the inlet manifold and EGR valve becomes blocked by carbon deposits. ​Timing belt on DV6 engine 1.6hdi/ 1.6tdci/ 1.6d:
The DV6 engine is a 1.6 diesel engine fitted to many popular cars including the Ford Focus, Peugeot 307/407, Volvo S40/V50 & Mazda 3. It is generally a reliable and economical engine but a strict maintenance schedule must be carried out to ensure the car stays running at its optimum.
One crucial job that must be carried out every 150,000 km (according to manufacturers, although we recommend getting it done 10-15,000 before this figure to be safe) is the timing belt. The timing belt is a critical part of the engine that times the camshaft, fuel pump and crankshaft. The DV6 engine is identified as an 'interference engine' which means the pistons move within the same space as the valve which in the event of belt failure (if not changed on time) can result in a costly engine replacement, but fear not AA Autotec can fit a new timing belt on your DV6 engine when due.
